Jorish Sherman, Sr. Obituary

Jorish Dwight Sherman, Sr., affectionately called “Dwight,” was born in Wharton County, Texas on December 8, 1957, to Mary Edwards-Sherman Bradshaw and Howard Warren, Sr. At an early age, he attended Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, where he accepted our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Dwight attended El Campo High School and graduated in 1976.  His childhood friends often referred to him as “Who Say Dwight.” After graduation, Dwight left Wharton and relocated to Denver, Colorado where he resided for 22 years. He returned to Texas and established residency in Houston. Dwight formerly worked as a Meat Specialist at Kroger for many years. He later worked as a supervisor at GE Oil & Gas until he retired in 2015.

After retirement, Dwight traveled back and forth to Denver on a regular basis to spend quality time with his children who lived there.  He was family oriented and loved all his family, but he loved to socialize with everyone. He was a self-proclaimed “Barbeque Pit Master” and often challenged his younger brother, Heath, to barbeque cookoffs. In addition to barbeque, he loved to cook regular meals, especially on holidays.

On Tuesday, March 26, 2024, he transitioned into eternal rest after sustaining a fatal gunshot wound. He was a great father and awesome grandfather.  He was loved and touched the lives of so many.  He will truly be missed.

“Dwight” leaves to cherish his loving memories two sons: Jorish D. Sherman, Jr. and Ray D. Aguirre; six daughters: Kyynna Manuel, Shataquwha Thomas, Kaneshia Sherman, Janeika Jones, Natalie Shields, and Ebony Sherman; eight grandsons, five granddaughters; three great-granddaughters, and two great-grandsons.

He is also survived by two brothers: Ray C. Sherman and Heath B. Sherman; one sister, Ivory Robinson; three uncles, Jesse Edwards (Odessa, deceased), Isaiah Edwards (Jannet), Leo Edwards (Earline, deceased), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
